But, it's true.
Everyday (not nearly, but truly EVERYDAY) I eat a Granny Smith apple. I am relatively healthy, too, so maybe they do keep the doctor away? Anyway, according to my mom, she ate a lot of Granny Smith apples when she was pregnant with me. So, maybe that it why I am addicted to their crisp, tart, and slightly sweet deliciousness.
But, I'm getting ahead of myself.
For breakfast, I keep it simple.
Cheerios. Banana. Milk. It's like an equation. Although, sometimes I do allow myself a little creativity, and add some cinnamon and brown sugar to the mix. It's tasty and satisfying and gets my day going right.
Lunch. My favorite meal of the day, and I eat that meal--the same food for lunch--nearly everyday.
Cheese. Crackers. An apple (Granny Smith, of course). Honey mustard.
I like to dip my apple in honey mustard. I know you are probably grimacing at the thought of that, but trust me, it tastes good!
This plate appeals to me for several reasons: it is aesthetically pleasing, it is compartmentalized, it is balanced and it is refreshing.
So, there you go. A behind the scenes look at Culinarily Courtney. Sorry to disappoint you, but I really don't eat extravagant desserts and meals popping with flavor everyday. I am a "Plain Jane," and proud of it.
What are your "everyday" kind of meals?
I may have some showy things on my blog, but I am certainly not eating many exotic or showy things. Most of my desserts are small or donated and meals are far from being lobster and brie.
ReplyDeleteLike you I love green apples, would not eat any other kind. Sometimes simple is the healthiest and has the best natural taste!
I have to admit - I have never heard of anyone dipping apple in honey-mustard!! My lunch almost always consists of leftovers or whatever I'm cooking for the blog that day. So I guess it varies a lot! But I do have a smoothie almost every morning for breakfast. Except for on the weekneds!
ReplyDeleteI'm just like you - I eat the same breakfast every morning. I have 1/2 cup Kashi cereal with 2% milk with fresh cut strawberries. I like having the same thing everyday - gives me less to worry about, and it ensures that I eat something in the morning.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm the same way! For breakfast, it's either a muffin or soy pudding. My snacks are a banana or Honeycrisp apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Lunch is usually some kind of soup with an ounce of cheese and crackers. Dinner is when I experiment with different things. :)
ReplyDeleteI eat an apple every day also! And the same breakfast every day. I also used to eat the same lunch for YEARS until blogging took over my life and i needed to cook more new recipes...constantly. So you're not alone!
ReplyDeleteMy breakfasts and lunches are generally pretty boring too. Mostly just leftovers, toast, cereal and oatmeal. I like to leave the exciting stuff for the weekends. :) My grandma has eaten an apple a day for most of her life and she's always been very healthy. Guess I need to learn from you to and hop on this train. :)
ReplyDeleteNice to know I'm not alone heheh--although, I wouldn't mind eating brie every day :)
ReplyDeleteI recently got a blender, so perhaps I will take a note from you and try to switch up my morning cereal with a smoothie!
ReplyDeleteI love kashi cereal! Thanks for reminding me of that, haha...maybe I will switch things up a little by buying a new cereal to eat.
ReplyDeleteMmm, yes--dinner is always fun. Although sometimes I wish I lived in Alaska when there is daylight there 24/7. That would make it more feasible to photograph dinners for the blog haha.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to hear that I am not an abnormal food blogger in my love for eating the same thing all the time, haha. Thanks for the comment!
ReplyDeleteWell that is an encouraging comment! I guess your grandma proves that I should continue with my routine apple eating (even if it might seem a bit boring) haha.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks so great! It's funny that you dip your apples in mustard. Definitely going to try that!
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes...I know it's a bit bizarre, but it sure is tasty!
